As a sister-school to Pensacola Catholic High School, MSHS has adopted a very similar dress code, with appropriate and/or necessary modifications as needed and determined by the school administration. *If your child has any health or sensory related issues that may affect/limit their clothing choices, please talk with Mrs. Lambeth and accommodations will be made.
During normal school hours all students must abide by the following general dress code regulations:
Male StudentsDaily Dress 1. Male students may wear non-denim khaki, navy, or black pants. Belts are required.* 2. Polo-style shirts are required to be worn daily. Colors: navy, dark green, grey, white. Shirts must always be tucked in, so that the belt is visible. 3. Sweatshirts or sweaters that are worn must be plain or MSHS apparel. The collared shirt underneath must be fully tucked into the pants and the shirt collar must be visible above the sweatshirt. 4. Any jacket may be worn.
Female StudentsDaily Dress 1. Female students may wear non-denim white, khaki, navy, or black pants. No yoga pants, sweatpants, skinny jeans, or shorts are allowed. No pants may be skintight. If leggings or tights are worn, the skirt over them must be no more than 2 inches above the knee. 2. Non-denim, solid-color skirts may be worn. Skirts may NOT be more than 2 inches above the knee, or skintight. Skirts may not have slits higher than the bend of the knee. 3. Polo-style shirts are required to be worn daily. Colors: navy, dark green, grey, white 4. Sweatshirts or sweaters that are worn must be plain or MSHS apparel. The collared shirt underneath must be fully tucked into the pants and the shirt collar must be visible above the sweatshirt. 5. Any jacket may be worn.
Professional DressCode for Male Students for Mass 1. Male students may wear non-denim khaki, navy, or black pants. 2. A dress shirt with collar and tie must be worn.* 3. Sweatshirts/Hoodies may not be worn at Mass. Solid-colored sweaters may be worn.
Professional Dress Code for Female Students for Mass 1. Dresses with sleeves, and no more than 2 inches above the knee, maybe worn. 2. Non-denim Dress slacks may be worn. They may not be skintight. 3. Non-denim, solid-color skirts may be worn. They may not be skintight nor more than 2 inches above the knee. Skirts may not have slits higher than the bend of the knee. They may not be skintight. 4. Blouses with sleeves, that can tuck in and that do not reveal cleavage, may be worn. 5. Sweatshirts may not be worn at Mass. Solid-colored sweaters may be worn. PE Attire 1. P.E. clothing and athletic attire are permitted only in the gym or on the playing field. 2. Shirts MUST come to the waist, no midriff showing, and shorts MUST be no shorter than “finger-tip” length. 3. Athletic shoes must be worn. 4. P.E. clothing must be washed at least once a week. Hair – For all students, Hair should be neat, clean, well-groomed and not past the eyebrow. Non-natural colors will not be allowed (orange, blue, purple, etc.) For Male students, hair must be off the collar and look professional. Males must be clean-shaven each day and have sideburns no longer than earlobes.
Headwear – No headgear - hats, bandanas, or sunglasses, should be worn to school.
ID Badges – MSHS issued identification badges/lanyards must always be worn by students while on campus during school hours. The name tag may not be altered or defaced in any way. Undergarments – No underwear is to be visible on any student. Students should always wear appropriate undergarments. Offensive Logos and Artwork - Offensive logos or artwork are prohibited on all student clothing. This includes but is not limited to: clothing with profane, obscene, or abusive language; clothing that advertises or advocates products that are illegal for student consumption; clothing that advertises inappropriate activities; and clothing with suggestive words, statements, or pictures.
Shoes – Students must wear shoes at all times (tennis shoes, sandals, boots, etc) Any sandal-type shoes must have some attachment on the heel. (No flip flops) Relaxed Dress On days specified by the administration, students may wear T-shirts, blue jeans, and dress code shoes. Denim pants may only be worn on these specified days. No torn or ragged jeans are allowed. Other – Other prohibited items include dog chains, wallet chains or body piercings, other than ear piercings for females. Jewelry should be kept to a minimum. If any jewelry is becoming a distraction, it is at the discretion of the teacher/administration to ask that it be removed or not worn to school anymore. Please do not wear wild or distracting makeup colors/heavy makeup. No make-up or earrings for Male students.
Dress Code Violations If a student arrives at school in violation of any aspect of the Dress Code, the parent will be contacted to bring appropriate clothing. If appropriate clothing cannot be delivered, the student will be given a school-owned cover up to wear for the day. Multiple dress-code violations will result in detention.
